How much should you spend on your website?

If you are a business looking to have a website built then you may wonder how much it is likely to cost and what you should be spending. Websites range drastically in price from a few hundred pounds upwards into the tens of thousands of pounds. Some companies will even build a website for free and then charge you a small monthly management fee. In some regards you do often get what you pay for, i.e. if you chose to have a website that has only cots £200 the chances are you will be getting a template website that allows you little flexibility in the terms of layout and functionality etc. You may also find it difficult to get these sorts of websites ranked on the search engines such as Google etc as they are often not built with SEO in mind.

On average you can expect to pay between £1000 and £3000 for a website so a start-up business. You may be able to get one a bit cheaper but may be limited on to the number of pages etc. If you want an e-commerce site you may be looking at spending £5000 plus, deepening on the complexity.
