Google and the other search engines like websites that are constantly updated and have fresh and relevant content on them. Some businesses do this by adding additional pages to their main navigation or to additional boxes on the main web page but this can easily clutter up a website and make it unfriendly to users. If you are looking for a way to and this all important new content then why not add a blog to your site. If you have a look of case studies or have a number of news articles relating to your business or even industry news then these too could be added to the website. The more content the better as they say content is king! Don’t forget, to write any information you take off the internet as simply copying someone else’s article and reposting it on your own could not only be an infringement of copyright but also cause your site to be demoted sue to duplicate content.
Thinking about your design
When creating any design it is important to think about the psychology behind it. If you are creating a website, promotional flyer, or a logo then you need to think about the message you want to portray and the type of customers you want to attract. Very often when someone views promotional material they go through a thought process. Firstly, what are they offering, secondly do I need it and thirdly how much does it cost? Once they have established this they can make a decision to decide if they want to buy it. Some companies decide to not show prices and have a price on application button, or ask for a quote. For certain services or products this may be essential as they are bespoke and therefore need to be quoted on a project per project basis but for others where competitors are advertising prices, you may be losing out on sales.
Improving conversions
Getting traffic to a website is the first goal but then you need to make sure that a percentage of this traffic is converting to sales or at least enquiries. When analysing your website statistics, be sure to check your bounce rate, this is often shown as a percentage and reflects the number of people that have left the site prior to interacting with it. Find out which pages have the highest bounce rate and then start to drill down in to them to find out why. If it is a contact us page then it may be because people just want a phone number or email address, in which case that’s fine. But if it is your home page or another one of your main pages then you need to look in to the reason. Often it can be that your site is taking too long to load, navigating round it is hard or that you are not offering what they are looking for. All pages should have clear call to actions, this may be a banner or link that promotes the visitor to do something i.e. request a sample, buy a product or enquire. Make sure that anything […]
Adding new content to a website
Adding fresh and relevant content to a website is vital to improve your search engine optimisation as search engines like to see a website that is constantly updated, and therefore will push it up the rankings on the search results pages. It can be hard knowing how to add new content without constantly adding to or changing your main pages but there are a few simple ways of doing so. Case studies – adding a new case study every week will get that all important content on your site for SEO but will also be useful to your visitors. People like to read about how your business has helped other businesses or individuals and if they read a case study based on something they can relate to (such as an existing problem they have which they need a solution for) then they are likely to contact you with the confidence that you know what to do to assist them.
Google Adwords Marketing
When it comes to online marketing, it can be a bit of a minefield. You can end up investing a lot of money in the wrong places or not investing enough in the right and therefore seeing very little return on your investment. Google Adwords is a form of online marketing also known as Pay per Click. It allows a business to create online adverts that click through to their website or display their phone number. Each time this ad is shown or clicked (depending on your settings) you will be charged a certain amount. This is a great way of getting more traffic to your site quickly, but it is vital it is set up correctly to ensure that you get the most out of it as it is very easy to accidently waste money that way. Showing your advert in the wrong places, bidding on the wrong terms or wrong match type and not have enough negative keywords are all common mistakes made when setting up an adwords campaign and can quickly eat up a budget with very little to show for it.
