Amazon Patent Explores Anonymous Mobile Payments

A new patent published within the USPTO has revealed that an anonymous mobile payment platform is inside the works for Amazon.

The platform is computer-implemented and enables the transfer of electronic payment between a consumer’s mobile device and the merchant without the necessity for disclosure of non-public information.

According to claims cited within the filing, a number of configured computing systems will receive a payment message via a number of mobile payment servers, inclusive of the quantity to be tendered. The payment amount is reserved in an account linked to a provider, and a redemption code is transmitted to him/her. Once the provider communicates the redemption code to the recipient, the payment could be redeemed through a number of mobile payment servers.

The code generated contains a distinct combination of 1 or more words and a range of, one in all which “conveys an unidentifiable part of recipient information in order that the recipient remains anonymous.” Additionally, the code has an expiration time, and should be redeemed previous to that point with a purpose to process the payment.

“Information privacy is a huge concern for a lot of people. Often, people take measures to guard their private information to prevent identity fraud, harassment or other undesirable acts,” the corporate stated within the filing. “Anonymous mobile payments enable a user to make and/or receive payments without disclosing personal or private information to a different party.”
