Manchester City Deploys High-density Wi-fi with O2 and Cisco

Manchester City FC is operating with Cisco and O2 to bring high-density wi-fi to the Etihad Stadium.

The 47,000 seat capacity stadium turns into the primary within the English Premier League to deploy Cisco’s Connected Stadium Wi-Fi solution, which can provide thousands of devices with a  high-speed internet connection.

This is a part of Manchester City’s relationship with O2, on the way to also see the introduction of technology to noticeably improve cellphone connectivity within the ground.

As well as providing a more reliable way for folks to attach on match day, these technologies might help with the introduction of StadiumVision Mobile within the near future. This service is able to delivering live video and relevant event information to mobile devices with minimal delay and might offer multiple channels of unique content – so it may be delivering alternate angle live view, dynamic data and replay channels to fans simultaneously.

“As a club this is obsessed with innovation and prides itself on constantly searching for the way to enhance our supporters’ experience on the Etihad Stadium, we feel now we have found the right solution with O2 and Cisco,” said Tom Glick, chief commercial & operating officer for Manchester City.

“With the floor and its immediate vicinity offering ubiquitous connectivity, we’re going to soon manage to provide full talk and texting capabilities, while paving the manner for stimulating new mobile data applications and services – akin to mobile video – on the way to ensure a trip to the Etihad Stadium is still the most effective sports experiences available anywhere on earth.”

It’s worth noting that while Manchester City will be the primary Premier League team to deploy this actual high-density wi-fi technology, Liverpool FC actually started rolling out wi-fi at Anfield Stadium last month.
