Retail Stats from Groupon and SDL

According to a survey of two,000 consumers commissioned by SDL Campaign Management & Analytics, 68 per cent of UK consumers use their cellphone in store. Of those 29 per cent said they compare prices, 22 per cent read reviews and 23 per cent compare services available from other brands.  The research also surveyed an additional 2,000 people around the US, Australia and Singapore and located that collectively 69 per cent expect a brand’s online store, mobile app and physical store to supply an identical pricing, discounts and sales. Gaydar Launches on Mobile Web with Targeting for Premium Brands

Gaydar, the UK’s largest gay dating website, has introduced a mobile web service to reinforce the dating experience for its 6m members worldwide. The site offers improved search functionality, chat features which combine real-time chat with a rich messaging service, in addition to photo and site sharing. The ‘Find Him’ function enables members to go looking for guys of their vicinity using four predefined mood filters to connect to others within the same mind set. Users have a single profile and log-in that syncs around the mobile web, desktop and Gaydar’s iOS app. The service also creates a platform for brands to promote more effectively with the affluent gay community. Trevor Martin, CEO of Gaydar.net, said: “Our vision was to create a less complicated, more pleasurable experience for our community to glue through mobile and i’m confident we’ve achieved this. USA Network Launches Responsive TV Experience

America’s USA Network is using responsive design to unify the digital viewing experience across all screens for its 102m US viewers.  Smartphones, desktop and tablets will receive the network’s TV Everywhere streaming service, gamification and social TV funtionality – with marketing partners in a position to create ‘ transmedia storytelling experiences’. As element of this, the network is moving its digital navigation tools to the lowest of the screen and placing the interactivity bar within a thumb’s reach. To create its new strategy, USA partnered with gamification specialists Bunchball, responsive designers Empathy Lab, social agency RebelMouse and cloud content tech provider Watchwith. “As a part of USA’s digital evolution, we’re embracing this multiplatform world by marrying each of the screens for stronger two-way engagements with our compelling content,” says Alexandra Shapiro, EVP of USA Network. “We have eliminated the walls between TVs and mobile devices to present brands a unified and fluid fan interaction, organically extending their presence everywhere the patron is.” The site will go live to tell the tale 6 June.

Apple Rules the Roost on Millennial’s Platform

Millennial Media has released its Mobile Mix report for Q1 2013, which looks on the device breakdown on Millennial’s mobile advertising platform. Apple was the highest manufacturer at the platform, and impressions from all models of the iPhone grew 28 per cent over the former quarter. Samsung was in second place, with impressions increasing by 19 per cent over the former quarter. Amazon broke into the pinnacle 10, and saw impressions increase 125 per cent over the former quarter. Android and Apple both increased their overall share of impressions year-on-year, with Apple going from 33 per cent to 39 per cent, and Android going from 49 per cent to 52 per cent. Non-phone connected devices comparable to tablets and e-readers increased their share of impressions year-on-year from 20 per cent to twenty-five per cent. Android tablet impressions grew 96 per cent year-on-year, and now make up 45 per cent of total tablet impressions. The Samsung Galaxy Tab was the leading Android tablet, with 35 per cent of these impressions, followed  by the Kindle Fire, with 28 per cent of Android tablet impressions. Blippar, PM and Prince Fly Flag for nice British Tech in US
