ChokaBlok Packaging Gets Augmented with Tesco

Tesco has teamed with creative agency Engine Creative to advertise ChokaBlok’s new range of chocolate bars via AR (Augmented Reality). Via the Tesco Discover app’s AR functionality, powered by Aurasma, shoppers can scan ChokaBlok packaging to access a behind-the-scenes video, which users are then encouraged to share via Facebook or Twitter.  “Working closely with the Tesco team on delivering innovative AR solutions is superb, because the ability to create rich AR experiences is improving all the time,” said Engine managing director Matt Key. “We’re currently developing interactive games and replicating photorealistic 3D captured objects and attaching them to real world objects – things we just couldn’t do after we first got to work with branded AR experiences 18 months ago.”

eBay Updates iOS Apps

eBay has updated its iOS apps, to version 3.0 on iPhone and a couple of.3 on iPad. The key feature within the update is a unified Shopping Cart, previously only available on Android, which enables users to shop for items from multiple sellers with a single payment. It also enables users to maneuver between mobile and desktop to continue their purchases. The update also brings a better user interface, with the iPad getting a customisable home screen, and the introduction of  multiple search views, offering table, grid and tile views. “The commerce revolution is underway and mobile is leading the charge. We wish to make moments of inspiration instantly shop-able, so we’re really eager about the updates to our apps for iPhone and iPad,” said Olivier Ropars, eBay Europe senior director of mCommerce. “For those brief shopping moments at the go, the Shopping Cart feature makes a tremendous difference, allowing users to purchase items from multiple sellers with a single payment. Smartphone Shipments Overtaking Feature Phones Globally

2013 will see shipments of smartphones surpass feature phones for the 1st time globally, in line with a report from NPD DisplaySearch. 937m smartphones are projected to be shipped this year, in comparison to 889m feature phones.  Smartphone shipments will grow at a CAGR of 26 per cent between 2011 and 2016, eventually reaching 1.5bn, two-thirds of the entire cellphone market. ”The global smartphone market is anticipated to continue growing rapidly over the subsequent two years,” said Shawn Lee, research director at NPD DisplaySearch. “With larger, higher-resolution displays, faster processors, and better-capacity cellular systems being built, the smartphone is not just becoming a must-have device, but is satisfying many wants that formerly required other computing and consumer electronics devices.” China is the world’s largest marketplace for smartphones, and the Asia-Pacific region will account for over 50 per cent of smartphone shipments in 2013.

SumUp Offers mPayments to Stopcocks Women Plumbers

Hattie Hasan, CEO of Stopcocks The puntastic national female plumbers’ organisation, Stopcocks, has signed a partnership with SumUp to enable its members to just accept mobile card paments from their customers. SumUp offers its customers a free card reader that works with an iOS or Android app. It have been on offer within the UK, Germany, Ireland and Austria since August last year. It also became available within the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and Belgium on the end of 2012. The company usually has a 2.75 per cent transaction fee but each of the profits comprised of Stopcocks until 1 October 2013 can be donated to the Clean Water Kithoka project in Kenya. Stopcocks can be holding a fundraiser for the project on the Safari Club in Finchley on 29 June 2013.
